Richard H. Harris, III Richard is Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group. He has significant experience counseling clients in the areas of business succession planning, trust and estate administration, estate planning and charitable gift planning. Richard’s practice includes Medicaid planning for the elderly and estate planning for individuals with disabilities. He has represented numerous fiduciaries in the probate administration of estates and in trust administration matters. Richard is an experienced preparer of estate and gift tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns. He has also been involved in probate litigation matters involving the construction of wills and/or trust documents, contested guardianships, and will contest actions. Professional/Civic Activities Richard is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section Council. He formerly served as President of the Akron Bar Association Probate Section Committee and the Akron Tax and Estate Planning Council. Richard was awarded the distinction as an Ohio Super Lawyer from 2007-2012 through a peer- and achievement-based review by Law & Politics Media, Inc, and was selected for inclusion in the 2007-2012 editions of The Best Lawyers in America.
Richard is a board member and officer for the Greater Akron Musical Association (Akron Symphony) and serves as Trust Advisor for the Mary and Dr. George L. Demetros Charitable Trust. He is also a board member of the Akron General Development Foundation and Albrecht, Incorporated and serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio. Richard is a frequent author and speaker on estate planning and probate topics.
