Water Quality – NPDES, Storm Water and Wetlands
As the government’s focus shifts from traditional water pollution control of “point sources” through permitting and enforcement activities to management of “non-point sources,” the focus of our practice shifts too. Of particular concern to Brouse McDowell’s clients are the new and more stringent permitting and management requirements for controlling storm water run-off, sanitary sewer overflows and combined sewer overflows in the communities in which they do business. Brouse McDowell has studied these issues and can offer clients guidance in these emerging areas, as well as in the traditional areas of NPDES permitting and compliance.
State and federal wetlands protection laws continue to impact real estate development opportunities for our clients. Brouse McDowell’s environmental lawyers are experienced with the issues and impacts of working with wetlands, obtaining permits and responding to enforcement actions. Our goal is to provide practical advice with a focus on finding solutions that enable projects to move forward.
We can provide prompt, up-to-date information regarding the regulation of wetlands and access to competent and experienced environmental consultants and engineers. We guide our clients through the federal and state 404 permit and 401 water quality certification processes. We search for creative solutions to mitigation requirements.
