Entry-Level Associate Opportunities

Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for first year associates for the class of 2008 is
$83,000.00. In addition to base compensation, Brouse McDowell offers an array
of attractive benefits such as health care, profit sharing, a 401(k) match and paid
parking. Our base salary is competitive with similarly-sized firms in our region,
and Brouse McDowell’s benefits are unsurpassed and are provided in addition to base salary.

- Associate Bonus Potential.
- Bar Examination Studies Stipend of $5000.00 for new associates.
- Ohio Bar Examination Fees and Ohio Bar Review course.

- Eligibility for reimbursement of business development expenses incurred in entertaining current or prospective clients.
- Medical Insurance.
- Insurance Coverage (long term disability, life and accidental death and dismemberment).
- Continuing Legal Education Expenses (subject to review and approval by firm management).
- The payment of annual Ohio lawyer registration fees and bar association dues.
- Other amenities, including comprehensive training in the latest technology, accelerated opportunities to take on more challenging assignments, greater client contact and encouragement in efforts to be involved in community and other civic organizations.
Consideration for Shareholder Status
In most circumstances, associates are first considered for full shareholder
status after eight (8) years of practice.

Lateral Attorney Opportunities

Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for first year associates for the class of 2008 is $83,000.00.
The salary for lateral attorneys will be considered on a case by case basis,
with consideration given to experience, developed skills sets and a portable
client base.
There is a trend among firms in the region to showcase elevated base compensation
while offering few, if any benefits, or to reflect the cash value of benefits in
the advertised salary. Brouse McDowell does not engage in either of these
potentially misleading practices. While our base salary is competitive with
similarly-sized firms in our region, Brouse McDowell’s benefits are unsurpassed

Credit for Experience
For purposes of calculating a lateral attorney’s eligibility for shareholder
status, credit will be given for other private practice, clerkship or other
experience on a case by case basis.
