If you are looking for a lawyer or a law firm, you have probably visited many web sites
featuring letters like this. My challenge, in this limited space, is to introduce you to
Brouse McDowell in a way that conveys what I believe sets us apart. Let me share with you
a few aspects of our firm in which we take special pride.
- We are proud of our history. Our original partners began the firm in 1918,
and since that time, we’ve grown to more than 70 lawyers, with offices in Akron and
Cleveland, where we’ve been since 1998. On November 1, 2004, we moved from our original
Akron location in the First National Tower to the AES Business Campus at 388 South Main
Street. Our new home was once one of Akron’s landmark rubber facilities, and its adaptive
re-use by the Tell Companies, Ltd. enables us to incorporate the latest in law office
planning while keeping us in Akron’s revitalized central city. We’re proud to join
companies like Advanced Elastomer Systems and our other neighbors in anchoring the southern
part of downtown.
- We are proud of our reputation. Clients and colleagues alike find our lawyers
to be responsive, vigilant, and thoroughly professional. The quality of our reputation
is reflected in the quality of the clients who have elected to entrust their legal
affairs to us.
- We are proud of our clients. We make it our business to understand their business,
so that we can help them creatively and efficiently, even as their legal needs change
to meet the challenges of an increasingly global economy. We represent some of the
companies that built Northeast Ohio and make it great, and we’ve also been involved
in attracting new business and industry to the area. In both instances, we’re proud
that our clients are productive corporate citizens.
- We are proud of our proficiency in technology. We’ve embraced it and believe
that it is critical to the delivery of legal services today. Technology can’t — and
shouldn’t — take the place of a personal, deeply rooted attorney-client relationship,
but it certainly can make the development and continuation of those relationships easier.
From the simple exchange of documents via e-mail to the use of web-based e-rooms that
enable multiple parties to a transaction to conduct due diligence from their desktops, we
are at the forefront of the use of technology in the legal arena. In both office
locations we’re on the cutting edge, but firmly and securely so.
- We are proud of our wide-ranging contributions to our community — contributions
that we believe to be an inherent part of our personal and professional responsibilities.
Many things contribute to the quality of life in our area, but a big part of what makes
it special is the commitment to excellence, whether schools, social services,
infrastructure or cultural and recreational activities. Our lawyers and employees
participate in more than 100 professional and charitable organizations serving the
needs of the residents of Northeast Ohio and beyond.
