Amanda Leffler Comments on Class Actions Involving Pandemic Coverage in Bloomberg Law
May 4, 2020
Amanda Leffler, Co-Chair of Brouse’s Insurance Recovery Practice, comments on potential class action claims involving business interruption coverage arising from the coronavirus, in an article published by Bloomberg Law on May 4, 2020. The article titled “Class Actions Spark Concerns Over Coronavirus Coverage Spats” discusses how the litigation between policyholders and insurers has been generating proposed class actions, and paving the way for attorneys without much insurance experience to enter this area of law. This has caused concern among dedicated insurance attorneys that this may lead to undesirable rulings.
Amanda says she worries about attorneys “who don’t normally practice in this space regularly taking the lead and carrying the torch for policyholders…There’s a lot to think about, and if you don’t do this every day it can be tough”.
