Shelby Ranier Provides Commentary on the Small Business Relief Grant and the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund

December 3, 2020

Attorney Shelby Ranier comments for Youngstown Daily Legal News on two Ohio relief programs now available to small businesses that were negatively impacted by COVID-19 in an article titled “New Relief Options Available for Small Biz/Restaurants and Bars.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic still full steam ahead, businesses are continuing to struggle, especially small businesses with little to no choices for relief. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) closed in August 2020 ushering in Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s announcement of two new grant programs, both part of a more than $429 million pandemic aid package.

In the article, Shelby Ranier explains the eligibility requirements for the Small Business Relief Grant and the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund. “Publicly traded businesses, clubs, lobbying firms and other businesses involved in political advocacy, hospitals, private schools and entities engaged in the sale or distribution of liquor, tobacco, cannabis or vaping products are among those that do not qualify,” says Ranier. She also notes the impact to current and potential clients of the firm, “We’ve had a lot of our clients reach out to us and ask how to apply for both of these programs,” said Ranier. “We are also trying to get the word out to clients and other small businesses who have not heard about these options.”
