Brouse Noted in WestLaw for Zoom Jury Trial Resulting in a Successful Verdict for Client

Brouse McDowell is noted in Westlaw’s In Brief article “Zoom jury trial results in $2 million verdict against RLI Insurance” for representation of policyholder PI&I Motor Express Inc., an Ohio-based trucking company in a matter involving a contracted employee who was injured on the job. After a four-day virtual trial, a federal jury in Ohio found that RLI Insurance must reimburse its insured, PI&I Motor Express Inc., $2 million to settle the above-mentioned lawsuit. The case is P.I. & I. Motor Express, Inc. et al. v. RLI Insurance Company et al.,case number 4:19-cv-01008, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. This is the first virtual jury trial in the Northern District of Ohio and one of the first in the country.

PI&I was represented by Brouse attorneys Amanda M. Leffler, P. Wesley Lambert, and Matthew G. Vansuch. 

In the article, attorney Amanda Leffler noted that “they were very pleased with the verdict and the virtual-trial experience, which she attributed to collaboration between the parties and intense preparation by the court and its staff.”
