Client Alert: HRSA Announces 60-Day Grace Period for Round 1 of Provider Relief Fund Reporting

on September 28, 2021

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) just announced that the first reporting period deadline for Provider Relief Funds (PRF) will not be enforced until November 30, 2021. Health care providers who received PRF during the COVID-19 pandemic are now on the clock for the first round of reporting. In the most recent reporting requirements publishedHRSA tiered the PRF reporting obligations based on the timing of payments. This first round of reporting is for payments received between April 10, 2020 and June 30, 2020. This timeframe is when most health care providers received their initial round of General Distribution funds thanks to the CARES Act.

If your practice received PRF during this timeframe, although your deadline to report is still September 30, 2021, HRSA announced it will not enforce that obligation until November 30, 2021 citing impacts to health care providers which may be hampering their ability to keep to this deadline. However, HRSA is also still encouraging providers not to wait until the last day. Also, be mindful that if your health care entity received more than $750,000 in PRF, you are obligated to perform a single audit which takes additional time and expertise from reliable accounting advisors. Be sure you have the right partners to help you navigate through this reporting process.
