Brouse McDowell Announces Three New Partners

Brouse McDowell, a business law firm in northern Ohio, is pleased to announce that as of January 1, 2022, Shelby Ranier, Kyle Shelton, and Brian Coulter were elected as Partners of the firm.

Coulter is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, with a focus on Real Estate & Construction. He has experience representing clients ranging from publicly traded corporations, to small multi-generational family-owned businesses, and start-ups. He has represented clients on a variety of issues including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) disputes, adverse possession, zoning, ground lease disputes, construction contracts, tort liability, and mechanics liens, with experience in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. For his work Brian was honored on the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list for Commercial Litigation in 2021-2022. He also serves his community as President of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals.

Ranier is a member of the firm’s Business Transactions & Corporate Counseling and Tax Practice Groups. Her practice focuses on corporate tax planning as she has experience creating tax models and calculations for various transactional scenarios, reviewing transactional documents, providing tax efficient pre- and post-acquisition structuring alternatives for various corporate transactions, corporate and partnership tax due diligence to identify areas of risk potential tax exposures that create deal value through suggested indemnifications, purchase price agreements, or escrow. Shelby was honored on the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list for Corporate Law in 2022.

Shelton is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group with experience in federal and state courts representing companies of various sizes at the trial and appellate levels. His practice is focused on counseling and representing clients in a variety of business disputes including real estate and title insurance, product and tort liability, commercial contracts, protection of business and intellectual property, and corporate governance of closely held corporations. Kyle was honored on the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list in 2021, in addition to being selected to serve the legal community as an Ohio State Bar Foundation Honorary Fellow in 2021.
