Brouse McDowell Secures Victory for a Medina County Village in Civil Lawsuit

November 16, 2022

Brouse McDowell recently secured a victory for its client, a Medina County village, who was the defendant in a civil lawsuit brought by a former police officer for wrongful discharge in violation of public policy. The trial court granted the Village’s Motion to Dismiss, finding that the plaintiff had no claim because he was not an at-will employee. The court of appeals agreed and affirmed the trial court’s decision. The case is Haven v. Lodi, 9th Dist. Medina No. 21CA0074-M, 2022-Ohio-3957.

The defendant was represented by attorneys Irving B. Sugerman, J. Alex Quay, and David Sporar.
