Brouse McDowell Associate Gabrielle T. Kelly Certified as Insurance Coverage Law Specialist

01/06/2015

Brouse McDowell, a leading regional legal professional association, is proud to announce that Gabrielle T. Kelly has been certified as a specialist in Insurance Coverage Law.

Fewer than 20 Ohio lawyers have been certified as specialists in insurance coverage law and five are at Brouse, making up the largest contingent of such specialists of any firm in the state. Brouse attorneys Keven Drummond Eiber, Amanda M. Leffler, Caroline L. Marks, and Paul A. Rose were certified in February 2014.

Attorneys who devote a large part of their practice to a particular area may choose to earn specialty certification. To obtain this certification attorneys must, in addition to other requirements, demonstrate substantial and continuing involvement in their practice to that particular field of law; submit five references from other lawyers attesting to their competency in the specialty area; earn 36 hours of intermediate or advanced continuing legal education credits in the specialty area during the past three years, and pass a written examination in the specialty area. Those who have earned a specialty certification must be re-certified at least every four to seven years and must report annually to the certifying agency.

Gabrielle T. Kelly counsels and represents policyholders in various disputes, including bad faith claims, mass tort, environmental, property, director and officer, and advertising injury liabilities. Gabrielle formerly served as a legal analyst for the Cuyahoga County Election Review Panel and as a legal assistant for The Lubrizol Corporation. She is a 2015 Super Lawyers® Rising Star and is a member of the American, Ohio, Cleveland Metropolitan (“CMBA”) and Norman S. Minor Bar Associations.

Gabrielle serves on the advisory counsel for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland and as a Trustee for Early Childhood Options. She is the editor of the CMBA Insurance Law Section Newsletter and co-chair of the CMBA Foundation 3R's Plus for Rights, Responsibilities and Realities. Gabrielle also serves as the vice chair of the Minority Clerkship Program.
