Longtime Brouse McDowell Partner David M. Hunter to Serve "Of Counsel"

January 15, 2016 (Akron, OH) – Brouse McDowell, a leading regional business law firm, has announced that David M. Hunter, Partner in the Real Estate practice group, will serve “Of Counsel” to the firm, effective immediately. Hunter will maintain an office in Brouse McDowell’s Akron location.

Hunter’s legal career represents a dynamic practice that spans over 40 years. He is currently the longest-tenured partner at Brouse McDowell. He is recognized for his expertise in general business law and commercial law. In particular, Hunter has advised clients in the area of corporate business planning, and represented parties in reorganization and insolvency proceedings under federal bankruptcy law. He has orchestrated many successful commercial and residential real estate development projects, including the development and sale of over 600 residential condominiums. For nearly a quarter of a century, Hunter served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Valley Savings Bank and was instrumental in negotiating the 2014 merger agreement with Westfield Bank, resulting in a combined financial institution with total assets approaching $1 billion.

Hunter has been an active corporate citizen throughout his career, recently being named Trustee Emeritus at the Western Reserve Academy, concluding 30 years of distinguished service on the school’s Board of Trustees, where he served in several officer positions. Hunter also served as President of the Board of Trustees for Western Reserve Public Media, governing body of PBS channels 45 and 49. Hunter was a key contributor to the development of the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation where he continues to serve as a Director and event co-announcer. In addition, he has served as President of the Board of Trustees for the Akron Roundtable where he continues to serve as a member of its Board. Hunter earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from Princeton University. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Akron School of Law and an L.L.M. degree in Corporation Law from New York University School of Law.
