Patrick J. Egan is a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group. He focuses his practice on counseling employers on issues impacting employee benefit plans and arrangements, including the design, administration and legal compliance of both tax-qualified retirement and health and welfare benefit plans. Patrick also has significant experience in assisting employers regarding the design of executive compensation arrangements, including nonqualified deferred compensation plans, employment agreements, and equity incentive compensation programs.
Patrick regularly provides assistance and guidance to the investment and administrative committees of 401(k) plans in order to insure full compliance with the complex legal requirements as imposed upon such arrangements under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.
In addition, Patrick has significant experience in addressing employee benefit matters arising in mergers and acquisitions, including the unique benefit issues that may surface when corporate transactions involve a union workforce. In particular, he has assisted clients in seeking to avoid or mitigate any withdrawal liability assessment.
