In the business setting, many claims can be made only against the company, but individual liability is a risk for tort claims. Negligent hiring, supervision and retention of employees is an example where a corporate officer could be held personally liable for damages that arise from that conduct. In this article, Jim discusses a couple of cases involving tortious conduct and ways in which to mitigate risks and losses by adhering to best practices and obtaining appropriate insurance.
