James E. Ickes Counsel

James (Jim) Ickes is an experienced attorney concentrating his practice in the areas of civil litigation. Attorney Ickes has over 21 years of experience in federal and state courts in the areas of business litigation and high conflict divorce. In addition, Jim is a HCISPP (Health Care Information Security & Privacy Practitioner) and builds HIPAA compliance programs for his clients in the health care and medical cannabis industries.

Jim is a founding Member of Ickes Holt and is committed to the principle that the practice of law, at its core, is about solving problems. As such he is dedicated to providing pragmatic, timely, and well-articulated solutions to the many challenges confronting his clients.

He graduated from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2000 and summa cum laude from Ohio University in Finance in 1997. He is former president of the Portage County Bar Association and a former adjunct professor at Hiram College where he taught business law. He is also a former recipient of Community Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

Jim is a proud husband, father of three, and a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio actively involved in many civic activities in his hometown of Hudson.
