Biography

Shelby is a transactional attorney developing her practice in our Corporate & Securities and Tax - Business and Corporate Practice Groups. Her experience includes work on general business, mergers and acquisitions, and tax matters. Shelby joined Brouse McDowell as an associate in 2019 and is based in our Akron office.

Shelby focuses her practice on corporate tax, specifically tax planning. She has experience creating tax models and calculations for various transactional scenarios, including basis step-ups and loss limitations. She reviews, from a tax perspective, various transactional documents including purchase agreements and letters of intent. Shelby has significant experience in providing tax efficient, pre and post-acquisition structuring alternatives for various types of corporate transactions. She has performed corporate and partnership tax due diligence to identify areas of risk and potential tax exposures that create deal value through suggested indemnifications, purchase price adjustments or escrow. Shelby received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her studies in Banking Law.

Before entering Law School, Shelby worked as a middle school math teacher in the Canton City School district. Shelby currently lives with her family in Norton. She loves golf and traveling and is an avid Cleveland sports fan.
