Irv Sugerman Comments in an Akron.com Article on a Recent Annexation Dispute Between Richfield Village and Richfield Township

June 10, 2021

Partner Irv Sugerman comments in an Akron.com article on a recent annexation dispute between Richfield Village and Richfield Township regarding the proposed Briarwood Estates housing development project. Under the proposed development, 119 acres of land would be annexed from Richfield Township to Richfield Village and up to 130 single-family housing units could be built by Pulte Homes.

In the article, titled “Trustees Examine, Eventually OK Development Memorandum,” Irv mentions that “a Richfield Village representative reached out to Township Administrator Mindy Remec and Trustee Jeff Shupe May 28 about a variety of issues, with an entrance on village roads being the leading one.”

Due to Irv’s powerful work on negotiating an agreement, the Township Trustees were able to successfully have the proposed road removed  from the Briarwood subdivision and eliminate the significant adverse traffic impact that it would have had on the township residents.
