Trusts and Estates Alert: National Estate Planning Awareness Week
By Lori R. Kilpeck on October 20, 2022
It is the time of year when we highlight the importance of estate planning during National Estate Planning Awareness Week (October 17, 2022-October 21, 2022)!
National Estate Planning Awareness Week was established in 2008 to create public awareness of the necessity of estate planning. Currently, only about half (56%) of all Americans have an up-to-date estate plan in place.1
Estate planning should not be overlooked and is an essential element of financial and tax planning. One of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family is to create your estate plan. This can minimize estate taxes, protect your assets, and provide that your estate passes according to your wishes. Estate planning also enables you to plan for a time when you may be incapacitated and unable to make decisions for yourself.
As we approach the end of 2022, it is a good time to create your estate plan or to have your current estate plan reviewed.
