Biography

Brian is a senior level associate focusing his practice on commercial litigation. As the lead associate in complex commercial disputes all over Ohio, Brian has represented clients ranging from publicly traded corporations, to start-ups, to small multi-generational family-owned businesses. Brian is therefore uniquely positioned to help businesses of any size navigate and, if necessary, litigate a wide variety of complex business issues. 

Brian’s significant experience includes representing a national real estate developer in a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) dispute; representing telecommunications companies and a publicly traded owner of multi-tenant communications real estate in adverse possession, zoning, and ground lease disputes; and representing both commercial landowners and general contractors in disputes relating to construction contracts, quasi-contractual and tort liability, and mechanics’ liens. He has substantial experience in both state and federal court at the trial and appellate levels.

Prior to joining Brouse, Brian worked as an associate at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP in Columbus, Ohio, before moving onto Day Ketterer Ltd. in Canton, Ohio. He returned home to Youngstown to be near family and give back to the Mahoning Valley. Brian is proud to be an active member and board member of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals.

    • Lead associate in CERCLA dispute between client real estate developer and Ohio EPA; part of team responsible for helping client avoid CERCLA liability and prevailing on summary judgment in the Southern District of Ohio.
    • Lead associate in zoning, ground lease, and adverse possession disputes involving client real estate investment trust; responsible for obtaining favorable judgments and settlements in courts all over Ohio.
    • Lead attorney for a City of Columbus towing contractor in a class action lawsuit involving alleged violations of the Consumer Sales Practices Act; responsible for negotiating favorable de minimis settlement.
