Brouse Ranks Among Top Firms for Representation of Women Attorneys in Law360's Glass Ceiling 2020 Report
October 19, 2020
Law360 released its Glass Ceiling 2020 report1, ranking Brouse #32 nationally for representation of women attorneys (among firms with 100 attorneys or fewer). Two key factors determined the ranking - the proportion of female attorneys and female equity partners.
Brouse was also noted as a “Ceiling Smasher” as the #1 firm in Ohio and the #8 firm nationally for highest representation of women in its equity partnership (among firms with 51-100 attorneys).
Law360's Glass Ceiling report reviewed data from more than 300 law firms, dividing firms into categories by the number of total attorneys reported: 601 or more attorneys, 251-600 attorneys, 101-250 attorneys, and 20-100 attorneys. For those size categories, they spotlight the 40 firms with top scores. In order to determine a firm's total score, Law360 ranked law firms on their proportion of female attorneys and their proportion of female equity partners. Firms were awarded a proportion of the 50 points available in each of the two categories based on their rank in that category. Possible scores range from 0-100.
Brouse McDowell data shows 33.3% female attorneys and 35.9% female equity partners. Other non-scoring categories in the report included ‘Executive Committee Representation’ in which Brouse shows 40% female attorney representation and ‘Total Female Promotions to Partner’ in 2019 in which Brouse shows 55.6%.
