Biography
For over twenty years, Lisa has focused her practice in the area of complex commercial and business litigation, representing clients in state and federal courts in a variety of disputes, including Uniform Commercial Code litigation, trade secret litigation, class action defense, business torts, unfair competition, false advertising and Lanham Act claims, shareholder disputes and shareholder derivative claims, breach of contract and promissory estoppel actions, product liability defense, title insurance policy and closing protection letter claims, and bankruptcy litigation. Lisa has litigated complex cases in courts throughout the country and is experienced in all facets of commercial litigation from initial case evaluation through case management and discovery, trial, and the appellate process. In addition, Lisa counsels clients on litigation avoidance, document retention and electronic discovery obligations, and arbitrates and mediates commercial and business disputes for firm clients. For over ten years, Lisa also has served as general counsel to the firm, providing legal advice on all firm-related legal and compliance matters and advising firm lawyers on issues of professionalism and legal ethics.
Prior to joining Brouse McDowell, Lisa served for two years as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Clair E. Dickinson in the Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals.

- Professional & Civic Activities
- Lisa is a member of the Akron and Ohio State Bar Associations and has been a long-term member of the Scanlon Inn of Court. Lisa is a Fellow of the Akron Bar Foundation, has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star, and was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to serve as a mentor to newly admitted lawyers.

- Representative Engagements
- Successfully defended a large international manufacturer in two separate class actions in federal court alleging defective product and false advertising (S.D. Fla. and S.D. Cal.)
- Successfully defended national title insurance underwriter in class action alleging improper upselling of title insurance
- Represented plaintiff in federal court action against competitor for false advertising and Lanham Act violations; obtained favorable settlement for client
- Represented several plaintiffs in actions to protect trade secrets and enjoin former employees' use of corporate trade secrets; successfully obtained injunctions for clients
- Defended major appliance manufacturer on a nationwide basis against negligence and strict product liability claims
- Obtained summary judgment for business client, as plaintiff, on breach of commercial contract claim
- Obtained summary judgment for international manufacturer of telephone systems against claims of fraud, breach of warranty, and Uniform Commercial Code violations
- Represented title insurance underwriter on nationwide basis on multiple complex title insurance and closing protection letter claims
- Represented large electric utility to successfully resolve multiple commercial disputes involving allegations of breach of contract and various business torts
- Representation of debtor companies in litigation in largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy case filed in US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio
- Representation of corporations and shareholder groups in multiple shareholder disputes and in shareholder derivative actions
- Ongoing advice to clients on document retention obligations, particularly as it relates to electronic discovery
