Biography
Paul Rose is Chair of the Insurance Recovery Practice. He is an experienced business litigator focusing in particular on cases concerning complex insurance coverage disputes. He often assists clients in obtaining insurance recoveries without resorting to litigation. He has led seminal cases and has practiced in trial and appellate courts throughout Ohio and in the Ohio Supreme Court, as well as the courts of various other states. He also has appeared in various federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a past chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group. Clients in the 2023 edition of Chambers USA praise Paul for his "perfect demeanor for dealing with insurance matters. He always gets the point across and he's very thorough." Further, in the 2022 edition, a client notes that he is "smart, thoughtful, insightful, thorough, and always a professional and a gentleman. He is outstanding in the courtroom." He has served as President of the Scanlon Inn of Court, which is the Akron Chapter of the National Inns of Court.

- Paul has been counsel for policyholders in many of the leading insurance coverage cases in Ohio and in other states, including GenCorp v. Aetna Casualty & Surety Company, Uniroyal Goodrich v. Home Insurance Company, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company v. Aetna Casualty & Surety Company, and The B.F. Goodrich Company v. Commercial Union Insurance Company. He also has appeared on behalf of policyholder amicus curiae parties in many cases, including the Ohio Supreme Court cases of Hybud Equipment Corporation v. Sphere Drake Insurance Company, Ormet Primary Aluminum Corporation v. Employers Insurance of Wausau and Pennsylvania General Insurance Company v. Park-Ohio Industries, Inc., and Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc. v. National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, PA.
- Paul has also served as an expert witness on Ohio insurance coverage law, testifying in the High Court of Justice in London, England.
