Brouse McDowell Welcomes Three Attorneys to Cleveland Office

AKRON/CLEVELAND, OH — Brouse McDowell, a leading regional business law firm with offices in Akron, Cleveland and Lorain County, is proud to announce the addition of Terry W. Vincent, Jonathan L. Stark and Meagan L. DeJohn to its Cleveland Office.

Terry W. Vincent joins Brouse McDowell’s Business and Corporate Practice Group, representing clients on a variety of IRS examinations, appeals, collection and criminal matters. He also represents public bodies and nonprofit entities on issues affecting formation, business operations, bidding procedures and Sunshine Laws and advises clients on tax and business issues affecting both entity formation and operations.

Prior to joining Brouse McDowell, Terry worked as senior attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel in the Tax Litigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. and as a senior attorney in the Office of District Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Cleveland, Ohio. Terry was recognized as one of Ohio’s SuperLawyers™, in the 2004, 2005 and 2007 Cincinnati Magazine, as voted by his peers.

Terry is a member of the American and Federal Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Taxation Section, Federal Taxation Subcommittee; the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, General Tax Committee; and past Chair: General Tax Committee (1995-96).

He is a member of the Lakewood City Income Tax Review Board; the Board of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (Chair, Legislative and Government Affairs Committee); Rocky River Rotary - Lakewood Sunrise Club; Case Western Reserve University Estate Planning Advisory Council; Board Secretary of the Northeast Ohio Sourcing Office; Harvest for Hunger Allocations Committee; Board of the Lawyer’s Guild of Catholic Diocese of Cleveland; a Trustee for the Partnership for a Safer Cleveland; and serves as an Adjunct Professor with Case Western Reserve School of Law, LLM Tax Program.

Terry received a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, from The University of Akron in 1983. He received a Masters of Taxation and a Juris Doctorate in 1986 from The University of Akron College of Business and School of Law, respectively. He is a resident of Lakewood, Ohio.

Jonathan L. Stark joins Brouse McDowell’s Business and Corporate and Labor and Employment Group. He advises clients on matters such as new business formation, asset purchases, buy/sell agreements, mergers and acquisitions, formation of joint ventures and relationships with distributors and suppliers. Jonathan also advises clients on employment policies, protection of trade secrets, hiring and termination decisions, reductions-in-force and compliance with various federal and state discrimination statutes, anti-retaliation laws and wage and hour laws.

Jonathan’s business and employment practice includes commercial litigation, litigation involving shareholder disputes in closely held companies and litigation in relation to claims of discrimination, enforcement of non-competition agreements and other employment related matters.

Prior to joining Brouse McDowell, Jonathan practiced with a Cleveland firm for eighteen years. He is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations (business/ labor and employment sections) and is an Arbitrator for the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas court. Jonathan is on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Variety Theatre. He has volunteered for the City Year Serve-a-thon and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Volunteer Day. He was also recently a Director of the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center (2000-07) and is a former tennis coach for St. Ignatius High School.

Jonathan received a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College in 1988 and a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1991. He is a resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Meagan L. DeJohn joins Brouse McDowell as an associate in the Environmental Practice Group. She will focus her practice on environmental litigation and counseling. She will provide regulatory compliance support to the firm’s industrial and municipal clients in matters relating to water, air, solid waste and hazardous waste and will assist clients in reducing their exposure to environmental liabilities in transactions.

Meagan joined Brouse from a Cleveland law firm where her practice focused on matters surrounding the Clean Air Act, Environmental Insurance Coverage, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Tort Defense, including asbestos and silica, and Insurance Law. She was previously a law clerk for the City of Cleveland Law Department Division of Health, Safety, and the Environment where she researched environmental matters including clean air regulations, water pollution, and asbestos issues.

Meagan is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Environmental Law Section, where she serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the section. She is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. She received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Pre-Law from Ohio University in 2002 and a Juris Doctorate from the Case Western University School of Law in 2005. She is a resident of Lyndhurst, Ohio.
