Brouse McDowell's New Practice Chairs Featured in Local Legal Publications

June 23, 2023

Akron Legal News and Youngstown Daily Legal News recently featured Paul Rose, Nicholas Capotosto, Michael O’Donnell, Patricia Gajda, Laura Fryan, and Teresa Santin as new Brouse McDowell practice chairs and co-chairs.

Managing Partner Dan Glessner congratulated the six new practice chairs and thanked them for their continued leadership. He said, “We’re very excited to welcome Laura, Nick, and Teresa, who will bring new ideas and energy to their practice groups.”

He also thanked the three attorneys returning to their former practice chair roles saying, “We appreciate Paul, Pat and Michael stepping up to the practice chair challenge again. All three have been leaders within the firm and the community.”

Of returning to his former role of Insurance Recovery Practice Chair, Paul Rose said “I am pleased to resume my old role and look forward to helping the members of the group to succeed.” He also noted the growth of the Insurance Recovery group since its inception, saying, “when I started the insurance recovery group, I was the only member. It grew substantially to become the largest such group in Ohio, by a substantial margin, and has become nationally recognized for its excellence and results.”

Pat Gajda echoed a similar sentiment on returning to her former co-chair role of the Business Transactions & Corporate Counseling Group, saying, “It’s great to be back in a practice leadership role. I’m looking forward to working with my co-chair Dan Silfani to put together strategic, marketing and training plans for our group so we can continue to expand the number of attorneys and levels of experience.” She was also noted for her additional leadership role on the Executive Committee since 2013. Pat was the first woman elected to the Executive Committee saying she is “happy to bring a different perspective to it.”

Michael O’Donnell, on his return to co-chair of the litigation group said, “First and foremost my focus is on client service, which is the firm’s priority. I will also focus on growth and continue to find new business opportunities.” He also added, “as a co-chair of the litigation group, I believe I have a responsibility to train new lawyers who join the group.”

Joining Michael as co-chair of the litigation group is Nicholas Capotosto, who reiterated what his co-chair said, adding that, “Post-Covid, many businesses are navigating a delicate balance between employees who work at home and in the office, and as we learn how to do this it’s important to take a team approach to client services, bouncing ideas off one another, mentoring younger attorneys and creating a collegial environment.”

After beginning her career in the litigation group Laura Fryan joined the health care group shortly after, eventually making health care her sole focus. “I was initially part of both groups, but I absolutely loved health care so I decided I wanted to be part of the group full time,” she said. Regarding her new leadership role she added, “I am looking forward to mentoring some of the younger attorneys.”

Teresa Santin carved out a niche construction practice after starting her career in civil litigation, saying “It was at Brouse that I started to focus on construction almost exclusively.” She expressed her excitement for the opportunity to co-chair of the Construction Contracts & Disputes Practice Group and forecasted plans to strengthen the group saying, “Our periodic meetings will focus more on continuing education for our attorneys as well as business development and marketing.”
